If I said that holidays are getting cheaper, you’d think I was on a different planet. A scan of the popular travel operators and the costs seem to be increasing daily, but are they really?
Now that we’re back travelling the world, hotels are competing for business and the capacity of hotel rooms, flights and availability is very competitive and more so since the COVID lockdowns. Hotels are now offering better accommodation at the same price as lesser rooms prior to the lockdown.
Cruise capacity for 2023 and 2024 has gone through the roof and to capture that market cruise operators have raised the standard of rooms and suites.
All this means that you get more now, in some cases, than you’d have found pre-pandemic. Room upgrades and accommodation are now better, in our opinion, than ever before. We’ve found villas and apartments that were double the price pre-pandemic at half the price now.
Flights are at a premium but if you’re willing to fly during the night or early morning you could bag a bargain. We recently booked a return business class flight to Calgary for under £1600pp including airport lounges, increased luggage allowance, airport transfers and fast track through security.
Fancy staying 5* all-inclusive and if you’re prepared to try something different, you’ll be amazed at the deals on offer. Greece, Portugal and Italy are the norm but why not try Bulgaria, Cape Verde, Morocco, Tunisia or the Indian Ocean.
