Black Friday cruise deals can be good value, but the headline fare rarely tells the whole story. Cabin grade, inclusions, port charges, gratuities and flexibility all change the real cost, so check each before you commit.
Black Friday is 27 November 2026. If you are planning a 2027 cruise, use this checklist to compare offers.
1. Confirm the cabin type and location
An inside cabin, an ocean view and a balcony are priced differently, and location on the ship matters. Ask whether the cabin is guaranteed by category or allocated to a specific number. If you choose a category only, you may not know the exact cabin until closer to departure. Our 10 cruise tips for budget-conscious first-timers covers cabin choice in more detail.
2. Check what is included in the fare
Cruise fares do not all include the same things. Ask about:
- Drinks packages and bottled water
- Gratuities or service charges
- Specialty dining
- Wi-Fi
- Shore excursions
- Port and government taxes
3. Look at flights, hotel nights and transfers
A fly-cruise price should state the flights. Check the departure airport, timings and baggage. Many sailings begin in a port some distance from the airport, so allow for transfers and an extra night where needed. For 2027 cruises booked with us by 16 December 2026, the collection transfer from Chester service stations is free, subject to terms: one pick-up and drop-off point per booking, a maximum of two passengers per car, and flight-only holidays excluded.
4. Choose the right length and route
A shorter cruise suits a first trip; a longer one gives more sea days and ports. Read our cruise length guide and first-time itineraries. If you are considering a warm-weather route, our Caribbean and Mexico page and Mediterranean page are good starting points.
5. Match the cruise line to the style of holiday
Cruise lines differ in size, atmosphere, dining, entertainment and typical passengers. A lower fare is not good value if the ship does not suit you. See our guide to cruise lines for beginners.
6. Understand deposits, balance dates and changes
Read how much is due at booking, when the balance is payable and what applies if you need to change or cancel. Sale fares may have stricter terms than standard fares. Consider travel insurance when you book.
7. Confirm how the booking is protected
We are ABTA members, and flight-inclusive packages carry ATOL protection through our suppliers, which safeguards your money should a supplier fail. Read ABTA and ATOL protection explained to understand what applies to your booking.
8. Plan ahead once you have booked
Use our cruise pre-departure checklist to prepare for travel.
