Eagles Resort, Halkidiki: A Thorough Assessment
We were invited to Eagles Resort in Halkidiki for a hotel review and facility update. We had not stayed here before, so we approached it as we approach everything: with clear expectations, a methodical plan and a determination to assess it fairly and thoroughly.
Getting There
Logistics were handled efficiently from the outset. A chauffeur met us at arrivals, transferred luggage without delay and had us in a private vehicle within minutes of leaving the terminal. The two-hour drive to the resort included a 20-minute stop for refreshments, which was a sensible and well-timed decision. The route itself was notable: rolling hills giving way to coastline, beaches and open sea that stretched further than anticipated. A good start.
The Resort
Eagles Resort occupies the third peninsula of Halkidiki, adjacent to the monastic coast of Mount Athos. It comprises two properties: Eagles Palace, a five-star beachfront hotel set within established Mediterranean gardens, and Eagles Villas, 42 private villas on a hilltop with direct views over the Aegean. Both hold membership of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The resort has been family-owned for a century, which is relevant because it shows: there is an organisational consistency here that corporate operations frequently fail to replicate.
The Setting
The beach is private, clean and properly managed. The sea is calm and clear. The gardens are well maintained, with pine trees, olive groves and planted areas providing shade along the paths between the pools and the shore. Villa guests have unobstructed sea views and private pools that are kept in excellent condition. The sunsets are exceptional. That is not hyperbole; it is a straightforward observation that anyone staying in a sea-facing room will confirm for themselves.
The Rooms
The rooms are generously sized, impeccably clean and among the best appointed available in this part of Greece. The quality of the furnishings is immediately apparent: materials are chosen with care, the fit and finish is consistent throughout and nothing feels like a cost-cutting decision dressed up as a design choice. Beds are comfortable, storage is adequate and bathrooms are well equipped. The sea-facing rooms and villas offer views across the beach and skyline that justify the upgrade without any hesitation. If you are considering whether the additional cost is worthwhile, it is. Book the better room.
The Staff
This is where Eagles Resort genuinely distinguishes itself, and it is worth saying so plainly. The staff are professional, consistent and engaged. On arrival, the welcome was warm and unhurried. More importantly, when we visited other areas of the property incognito, as guests without any particular status, the standard did not change. Same attentiveness. Same efficiency. Same good manners.
That consistency is the mark of well-managed training and strong leadership from the top. Returning guests confirm that requests are dealt with promptly and without unnecessary back-and-forth. Families report that practical needs such as high chairs and adjusted menus are provided as a matter of course, not as an inconvenience. The general manager is visibly present and sets a clear standard for the team.
The Food
The breakfast buffet is varied, fresh and rotated throughout the week. Evening dining ranges from informal grilled seafood at the water’s edge to the more structured Kamares restaurant, which received two FNL Stars at the 2025 FNL Best Restaurant Awards. That is a meaningful accreditation and, having eaten there, a justified one. Dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free, are handled across all venues without fuss or compromise. These things matter and the kitchen takes them seriously.
The Facilities
The spa is fully equipped: indoor and outdoor pools, saunas, steam room, a range of treatments and fitness classes, many of which are included in the stay. Water sports, diving, sea kayaking and yacht excursions operate through the resort’s own centres. Private trips to Drenia, an uninhabited island with prepared beach facilities, are an option worth taking. A children’s club is run by qualified professionals. A sommelier leads tutored wine tastings in the resort’s cellar. These are not token additions; they are properly run operations.
The Verdict
Eagles Resort does not rely on visual spectacle to justify its reputation. It relies on doing the fundamentals correctly, every time. Rooms are clean, spacious and furnished to a standard that compares favourably with the best in the region. Food is of a high standard. The setting is genuinely beautiful. The staff are consistently good. The facilities function as advertised.
For a traveller who values reliability, quality and a resort that delivers on its promises without requiring any indulgence from the guest, Eagles Resort is an entirely sound choice. We would return. We will return!
