Victoria Beachcomber Resort & Spa – The Perfect Family Hotel

By Global Travel Worldwide

Those looking for a family hotel in Mauritius should look no further than the outstanding Victoria Beachcomber Resort and Spa.

On arrival you are greeted with smiling staff who see it as their responsibility to ensure that you have a pleasant stay at the hotel, no….. an outstanding stay at their hotel. Check-in is seamless, fast and very well organised and even when there were several people arriving at the same time, the staff managed to check everyone in with minimal delay or fuss. The walk to the majority of rooms is quick and access is easy and caters for those with walking difficulties with lifts and wide access.

The rooms are outstanding and even with the weather outside being a warm 30 degrees, the air conditioning coped well and kept the room cool at all times. At a whopping 60m2, each room has more than enough space to cater for families of all ages and sizes. The bathroom window opens so that a view of the beach is visible at all times and parents can keep an eye on small children whilst they shower or bathe.

The beds are comfortable and a good size with a sofa bed being almost the same size as the double bed. There’s a safe, robes and slippers which are all complimentary and all as part of the Victoria Beachcomber experience. The TV is a good size and the channels cater for the French, German and Italian marketplace with a couple of channels in English.

The views from the balcony all are beach facing and the sea is visible from most rooms.

The food is buffet style and there’s a great deal to choose from. The main buffet area caters for over 400 people at any time and so getting a table isn’t an issue in most cases. The swimming pool is huge and warm and the paddling pool that surrounds it on three sides is for small children, such is the level of detail this hotel provides.

The Italian restaurant sits on the beach and the view is wonderful at all times.

The new Victoria for 2 suites are amazing and adults only with the ground floor suites being “swim up” rooms. Each room is well appointed and space enough for two people to relax, unwind and enjoy the view of the island and the mountains.

The beach……… sand with coral in sounds horrific but it isn’t. They advise that you wear plastic shoes when going into the water and we recommend it too. However, if you’re swimming with a purpose don’t worry about it. There are two beach bars that you will have to go to in order to get a drink, such a chore when they’re no more than 10-20 feet away from your sun lounger, and there’s no beach service.

The kids……. There’s so much to do for children that you could easily hand them over to a childminder or put them in a kids club and not have to worry until picking them up later in the evening. The staff truly love children and nothing is too much effort or trouble. From simply playing together, to watching movies, making gifts, swimming the list is endless.

The staff are some of the best, most professional and well organised you will ever find in a 4 star hotel of this nature. Their attention to detail is second to none and they make your stay a positive and welcoming event. Some would say that they are attentive because they are looking for tips. We discovered that this isn’t the case at all and its because they enjoy what they do and want you to enjoy their island, the hotel and their home.

If you’re looking for a hotel in Mauritius that caters for families and provides a level and standard of accommodation that befits a 4 star hotel, look no further than the Victoria Beachcomber Hotel.
