Choosing a villa for a family or a large group
Start with who is travelling, then work through these checks. They separate a villa that works for your group from one that only looks good in photographs.
- Bedrooms and bathrooms. Count bathrooms as well as beds. A house sleeping ten with two bathrooms is a very different week from one with five.
- Pool and young children. Ask whether the pool is fenced or gated and how deep it is.
- Location. Decide whether you want to walk to a beach and restaurants or are happy to hire a car for a quieter setting.
- Comfort. Check for air conditioning in the bedrooms, Wi-Fi, and where everyone will eat together.
- Service level. Some villas are self-catering and others offer extra services. Ask what is included and what costs extra.
