Using a travel agent after the Pandemic

By Global Travel Worldwide

Travel is back with a bang now that the travel restrictions are being lifted across the world. Destinations are selling themselves as the places to be and the holiday deals on offer are some of the best available.

This sudden demand for travel has meant that travellers are spoilt for choice with high street travel agents competing with online travel agents (OTA) and homeworkers and there’s not enough capacity to go round. There are good and bad points for using OTA’s and the major drawback was the start of the lockdown and pandemic. Many OTA’s couldn’t handle the demand to rebook, cancel or suspend holidays booked by customers. Airlines and travel operators were forced to shutdown leaving many OTA’s and their customers in limbo.

Global Travel Worldwide remained open throughout the pandemic and lockdowns. We were able to service the needs of our customers over the phone, email and Zoom giving us the edge over OTA’s and homeworkers who were at the mercy of 3rd parties for information and limited resources.

The high street travel agent might be seen as a dying breed but when it comes to customer service, the high street travel agent is the one that leads the charge. The pandemic and lockdowns gave us the chance to assess our business and we took the bold step to not only revamp our shops and offices but to also change the way we operated and move more into an online environment.

We now offer the same service as OTA’s (cheap deals and fast booking facilities) but we also offer the human touch. Need advice about a destination and we are able to provide it. Not sure on the delays at airports and we can give you the latest information that we have in moments. We offer a check-in service that helps prevent delays at the airport, an airport transfer service that’s the envy of most locally and we can also deliver tickets and boarding passes.

There are many reasons to use an OTA but the main reason for using a high street travel agent is the human contact, experience and knowledge.
